An Indian Favorite

indian restaurant grunerlokka oslo norway

New Anarkali was once on a list in a Oslo newspaper of cheap, good dinner places. Otherwise I have to admit I’d probably not gone inside, as the outside looks quite gloomy. It is a small place, and often full, but you always get great food served by just as great staff. The inside does feel like it is filled to the brim with stuff, kinda kitsch interior, but as long as I get excellent food I’m good 🙂

Located in the neighborhood Grünerløkka you either walk from downtown or take one of the many street cars and buses that pass nearby.

        1. Yes, I was visiting a friend in Cleveland back in 2000. I had been to a Japanese restaurant before, but not had the grill experience. Now I love it 🙂

  1. This looks delicious. I love Indian food. Great to know you can get it in Oslo. Thanks for sharing on #FarawayFiles

  2. An Indian restaurant in Oslo…looks interesting! Was it spicy? I am sure it was not! 😀 …The best thing I like visiting Indian restaurants in Europe on my travels is the way people try to eat the Indian food. I remember I was once visited this Indian restaurant in Hungary where I was surrounded by all Europeans or maybe some tourist, and when my order came, I was trying to mix up the salts and spices which were kept on the table and began eating the way we usually eat…and in no times I realized I became the center of attraction and people were trying to intimate my eating actions! 😀

    1. Yes, there are plenty of them. Rumour has it some of them actually are Pakistani restaurants 🙂 I do medium on the spice scale, but you can choose whatever you want. Haha, now I am very curious about the way you eat 🙂

      1. Ya Pakistani has some Indian influence. Well I myself don’t eat spicy food at all..but what I always get in those restaurant feels to me they hardly had any Spice! 😁 ….well it’s very simple to learn my eating style and I could have teach you if I would have stayed for sometime in Oslo for my upcoming trip! 🙂

        1. I’m pretty sure you eat spicier food than me 🙂 I like spicy food, but when I was in Myanmar and Bangkok I realised my food is not spicy at all, compared to what I got there 🙂
