Well, shame in the sense that this is really nothing to yearn for. Of course it is on all Los Angeles visitors’ to-do-lists, and I get it – it was on mine too, but this is a go, see, check kind of situation. As it is right there on the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalks, stop by on your way to other Hollywood sights, as it is fun to have seen, but then again that’s about it.

i’ve never been to L.A. but I agree with Corinne that hand prints are more interesting than just a bunch of names on a sidewalk. I’d be curious to know how you qualify as Hollywood is full of people who are famous, obviously.
The prints you find at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. I think I’ve read somewhere that you are offered a star, but then you have to pay for everything yourself. Sounds like “Do you want a star?”, “Yes? Let’s do it!”, “No?” – and they’re on to the next.
I must admit that I recognized a lot more of the names than not.
I actually experienced the opposite. Didn’t find many worth noticing…
I guess they don’t stick their hands in the cement like they used to? That at least gave an interactive element to it. #wkendtravelinspiration
For the handprints, footprints, signatures you have to go into the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre forecourt.
There are unfortunately many sites that exist only because of their popularity, not because they are particularly interesting or great to see. When I visited downtown L.A. for the first time after visiting the city to see Los Angeles Dodger games, it was fun but not the most memorable things.
I agree, downtown LA doesn’t have much on offer. I prefer to stay in the costal communities.
You have got to admit though it is kind of fun seeing how many of the names you recognize – and how many you don’t.
Honestly, I got bored after a few minutes… And there’s plenty one doesn’t recognize, more than what one do.
