On The Rocks in Sydney

the rocks old town sydney australia

This old neighborhood, across the harbour from Sydney Opera House, is a fantastic spot to spend the day. Just walking around – through narrow streets, and among buildings from a foregone era, now housing small (speciality) shops, and cozy cafes, restaurants, and bars. I had my first Eggs Benedict (now a fan!) in one of the little eateries here, and a too friendly parrot (the adorable rainbow lorikeet) decided to keep me company for brunch. Guess it had a taste for New York cuisine as well 🙂 In The Rocks you can also submerge yourself in history and art, museums and galleries, but this day I was in the mood for hanging out only. Should none of the above be for you, you could also simply come here for the superb waterfront view of the characteristic opera house, while relax in the park. I read There’s also a market on Saturdays and Sundays.
