So this was the first, and so far only, time I’ve used TripAdvisor for restaurant recommendations. A friend often does – I’ve never thought about it, just used it for hotel reviews. But in my quest for a place to eat in Rotterdam I figured I’d try, and found this touch table restaurant, which I thought looked fun and different. And Izkaya is fun and different, but that’s more or less it – food was OK, but not as good as I had hoped and anticipated it to be. The place was kind of stylish, but impersonal – could it be there was only me and two others there…? But the cool part was cool. You order food and drinks from a menu projected onto the table, which makes it function as a touchscreen. And by tapping the Chef Cam you can watch food being prepared in the kitchen. When you’re ready to leave, you go through your order, hit pay, and a waiter comes to receive the actual payment. For a different ambiance you can change the tablecloth, a.k.a. the background image used on your table. Fun fact: this is an interactive restaurant that doesn’t have a website… – well, at least I couldn’t find it…

I’ll be honest – I wouldn’t care about the food. What an absolutely fabulous concept. I wanna go!
I guess food could come second when the concept is cool 🙂
Looks interesting – can’t believe they don’t have a website? Seems rather odd! I think my kids would like ordering their food and watching it being cooked x
Yes, it is definitely different. I think there were games incorporated in the software as well.
Very quirky – sometimes it does seem the restaurants like this with the unusual experience isn’t actually as good at the food. But sounds a cool one to have tried. #citytripping
Hear, hear!
Sounds like a really fun concept…but can see that style may come over substance – and taste. Thanks for linking to #citytripping
Totally agree!
Wow that is such an interesting concept!!
Fun and different 🙂
Great post! I’ve always wondered what an interactive restaurant was like! 🙂
Thank you! I guess you now have at least an idea of what it can be like 🙂
Interesting! I’ve never heard of such a restaurant before. A touchscreen menu would come in very handy for me (I wouldn’t need to put my reading glasses on!). Being able to watch the chef preparing your food must be fun.
Me neither, so I thought it’d be fun to try. The chef cam screen is small, but cool feature. I’m blind without my glasses 🙂
Looks like a similar experience I had in a restaurant called Inamo in London. But I actually liked the food.
Have a look here, the very first one http://nixtie.org/2015/12/05/unique-dining-experiences-in-london/ .
That is definitely the same technology! Glad you enjoyed the food. Could be same tech, different restaurant “chain”.
Great Post
Thanks! 🙂
