The Center Hotel Is Central, Only…

If you’ve been reading my blog, you know I’m not too picky when it comes to where I stay on my travels. Unfortunately this one inΒ Tallinn barely makes the cut. Yes, it’s cheap, it’s centrally located, it’s clean, but the overall vibe is kind of “off”… Arriving at the entrance was the first hint of this not going down as the perfect choice. Front desk area didn’t help either – kind of makeshift. Staff seemed polite though, but I didn’t need much help as I had my own, personal tourist information (read: local friend πŸ™‚ ). The hallways felt a bit…uninhabited?, and rooms are very basic – like, is this a hotel room…? For luggage storage they have luggage lockers, like at train stations, so no room for suitcases. However, adding to the positives: it didn’t feel unsafe, it’s situated just a couple ofΒ blocks away from major traffic hub, old town and shopping centres, and the breakfast was a good surprise – actually impressive, considering the standard of the hotel. Despite the negatives outweighing the positives,Β after the initial “shock” this became home as well.

  1. Oooh it does look rather bare. The room reminds me of my dorm at university! Good job you weren’t spending much time in there #citytripping

    1. Used to spend a lot more time on researching hotels, but now I (mostly) find one that looks ok and book it. There are sooo many hotels to choose from, that I’ll never finish. Now I’m also less picky, because I’ve travelled a lot more, and I’ve realised I don’t need much to be content.

    1. Exactly πŸ™‚ I knew it was going to be basic, just not as basic as it was. When I went to my room, my Estonian friend joined me, we both just stood there with an expression of Ok… on our faces πŸ™‚

    1. I am really not picky when it comes to hotels – I rather spend money on stuff to do, buy, eat – but this one was probably one of the most basic ones I’ve ever stayed at, and I’ve stayed at a few πŸ˜€ I would think as I got older I would be more concerned about the places I stay – apparently not πŸ™‚

  2. Looks extremly basic, even for an Eastern European hotel. I’m sure there are some better choices in the city. Nevertheless, thank you for your review πŸ™‚

    1. Yes, a lot more basic than what I usually do, and I tend to do basic πŸ™‚ You can for sure find nicer hotels in the city! Wouldn’t say there is a big difference between Western and Eastern European hotels these days. Not in my experience any way.

      1. Hm, it actually depends. Eastern European hotels definitely offer the better value for the money, but when it comes to the high end of luxury, Western European hotels tend to be superior (talking of five star hotels)

        1. Yes, I guess I get more for my hotel money in E. Europe. Have actually never thought about it. Haven’t stayed in any super-duper hotels in E. Europe. Only in W. Europe and USA. Some impressive, not all.

          1. The value for the money is actually quite great in Eastern Europe. But you are definitely right, by far not all luxury hotels are “impressive”!

Love to hear your comment :)
