The Niagara Falls was so cool!! When approaching a magnificent sight hit your retina, and you felt the mist on your face. We visited the Horseshoe Falls/Canadian Falls in Ontario. But had a nice view over to the rest of the falls on the American side, the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. In addition to just admiring the falls from a distance, and instead of going on the boats, we decided to join the walk behind the falls. Nothing much, but getting out on the platform next to the waterfall, the Lower Observation Deck as it is referred to, is nothing short of a soaking wet experience. Definitely no help in the yellow poncho we were given 🙂 Wet and loud, but fun!

Wonderful to see Niagara Falls from different view points! It’s great you got to venture behind the falls.
Going behind was ok. Going outside next to it was super!
Totally agree. The falls are amazing. The rest is exactly as you described it.
Good to know we’re on the same page 🙂
Niagara Falls is one of those iconic places to visit, at least once in a lifetime. It’s still on my travel bucket list … one day! Can’t wait to get drenched by the waterfalls 🙂
Definitely iconic and definitely soaked 🙂
I’d love to go there – I didn’t realise you could go underneath them!
A nice day out! Yes, you can go behind the falls, kinda cool 🙂
Great post! me and my friends are going to NYC this summer, would you recommenced the Niagara falls as must see? we’re not sure whether to go or not 🙂
Thanks! I would say that depends on a few factors. How long are you staying in NYC – because there so much to see and do in the city itself. If you’ve been to NYC before, you might have time to spare and spend on a trip north. Because the trip from NYC to Niagara Falls is a long one, if you’re going by land (not a day trip). By air I guess it depends on how much you will have to pay for the flight. If you think you’ll never going to be in the area again, I would add it, but if you know for sure you’ll have the chance to do it later, and you’re short on time, then I’d just enjoy the city. If you’ve seen a waterfall of this magnitude before, it might not be that impressive.
Loved your take on this! I visited Niagara Falls last July and I still haven’t stopped reminiscing about it! Since you’re not too far away, I would highly encourage you to visit again and actually stay for a few days. There’s so much to explore! (I wrote a few tips here: http://jessicalippe.com/2014/09/27/u-s-vs-canada-who-has-the-better-niagara-falls/.)
Thanks! I was visiting a friend (I live in Norway), so probably won’t go back. Hoping to get to go to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe one day, though 🙂
