Basseterre, St. Kitts

st kitts caribbean

After visiting Romney Manor and Fairview Greathouse, I decided to end my stop on St. Kitts with a walk around Basseterre. It wasn’t the most exciting place I’ve visited, but it could be that the country’s capital has evolved over the years… However, stepping off the busy main streets offered a laid-back atmosphere, which was more to my liking. The Berkeley Memorial clock at the Circus, a round town square, is nice. Independence Square is more like a park than a square. And I just adore the colorful houses of the Caribbean! As my driver said, when I told him that you wouldn’t find houses like this back home: Here the goal is to stand out as much as possible 🙂

St. Kitts was a port on my cruise with Celebrity Cruises.

  1. That’s usually what happens on a small island – everyone knows who you are. There’s comfort in that – sometimes!

    1. I think this island had the most pastels out of the islands I visited. There was a lot of color on Dominica too, but more bright ones – love those too though 🙂 It’s like the Clash of the Colors 🙂

  2. Neat picture! I’ve actually never heard of St. Kitts. Would you go back?

    1. It wouldn’t be my first choice. It is nice, but Dominica (beatravelling.wordpress.com/2014/09/24/the-island-of-dominica) was my favorite by far. I visited St. Thomas, St. Croix, St. Kitts, Dominica and Grenada. Sailed out of Puerto Rico, which I also liked.

Love to hear your comment :)
