Whitsunday Island’s Hill Inlet Is Just Breathtaking!

Yes, Hill Inlet on Whitsunday Island is jaw-dropping gorgeous!! I am so glad I didn’t miss out! I had a day to spare, and ended up doing this on a whim. Bestย choice! At the inlet we were let off the boat right on the amazing swirling sands. And after a walk along the beach, during which I spotted the cutest, blue, little crabs :),ย it was off into the rainforest. A fairly short, uphill walk (on a boarded path) later, we reached the lookout point, and the oh so stunning view!

I spent the day with the speedy Gonzales of the Whitsundays, a.k.a. Big Fury, which is a rafting style boat that takes you around the islands in a super fun heartbeat, full speed ahead and fairly big waves ๐Ÿ™‚ My fellow day trippers might have been a bit on the younger side, but 40-year-old me still had a lot of fun ๐Ÿ™‚

This trip also included lunch at Whitehaven Beach, which got ruined by flocks of seagulls wanting in, and snorkelling at Dumbell Island, where a young sea turtle appeared right after I had gotten out of the water – the story of my (wild)life! Nothing special, neither of them.

  1. I just saw your photo on #MondayEscapes – gorgeous!! And like you said, not manipulated..wow just stunning. Whitsunday Island looks like an amazing place :).

    1. Thanks! And it was cool to wade/walk across the sands as well! The Whitsundays is definitely great! And unbelievably enough it wasn’t on my first Australia trip draft ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I really liked the place! Only drawback in my eyes was that it is hard and expensive, and sometimes impossible, to get to the different islands. At least on your own. But it was a very nice start to my Oceania vacation, after many hours “on the road” (from Norway).

        1. The thing is you don’t see that it’s like that until you’ve reached the hilltop. When you get off onto the sands, it looks like any other beach, well almost ๐Ÿ™‚ Really cool as I hadn’t added it to my plans. Just didn’t have anything else planned for that day, and thought it looked cool.

            1. Thanks so much for featuring my photo! I love islands as well ๐Ÿ™‚ It was much farther between the islands than what I thought it was going to be. Airport transfer was by boat ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Wow – stunning first shot – and what part of Aus isn’t beautiful? ๐Ÿ˜‰ #MondayEscapes

        1. It took a while for me to get there too. Long way away from Norway. But it was so worth it! Had an amazing time. Visited Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef, Melbourne, Sydney and Ayer’s Rock. You have a lot to look forward to ๐Ÿ™‚
