So I am not the “Must try local, traditional food” kind of traveller, but for some reason I decided to go for it while in Vienna. I’ve never tried schnitzel in any way, shape or form, as it has never appealed to me… But I have been converted! I struck gold thanks to Hilton Suggests on Twitter, which recommended this restaurant to me. The food was just exquisite! The schnitzel is huge!! As a friend on Facebook commented: Is that a schnitzel pizza?? And I wouldn’t call the tartar sauce tartar sauce, but fluffy white heaven 🙂 The schnitzel doesn’t come with anything, so you have to order side dishes, if you’d like to have a bit more than just the schnitzel. Me, I went with fried potatoes and tartar sauce – yum! There are two Figlmüller restaurants in Vienna. I went to the one on Bäcker Street. The other one is like half a block away. The restaurant was fairly full, but there was no line, and it didn’t take long for the food to arrive.
hahaha glad you like Schnitzel, I love it. It is also a popular dish here in Munich 😀
Happy to have you on #MondayEscapes
Really? I didn’t know schnitzel was a German thing as well. I guess influenced by its neighbor in the south. Remember having some “chopped up” pancakes in Munich – delish!
Well, it’s from Austria, but they are very traditional here in Germany too 🙂
Ok, then I know what to have for dinner next time I’m in Germany 🙂
That really does look like schnitzel pizza! I bet it was good. Yum!
😀 It was soooo good! Wanna go back just for that!
That is huge! Hope you enjoyed it – I don’t think I’ve seen one quite so big before though 🙂 #mondayescapes
Super huge 🙂 And super delish! Me neither.
If you have ever go back there you have to try the potato salad!
Will do! I loved that schnitzel so much, that I’m actually thinking of going back to Vienna, even though it wasn’t one of my favorite cities 🙂 Have a nice weekend!
