It took a while to get there from Rotterdam, but it was well worth it on a sunny Sunday! A nice place to go for a stroll, or bring your bike. At least one of the windmills are open for visitors to have a look inside. And the photo ops are countless! I went from Rotterdam to Kinderdijk by Waterbus. Just make sure you get off at the right stop. The crew onboard told me I had to get off at Alblasserdam, and take a bus from there to the windmills. Since this was a Sunday, I had to wait for the bus in Alblasserdam for about an hour. When I got to the windmills, I realised I should have gotten off the waterbus the stop prior to Alblasserdam, as it said on a sign at the dock, and just walked to the UNESCO site – I believe it would have taken me 5-10 min. Getting back to Rotterdam, I took the bus to the south part of the city, and the train/subway to my hotel. I don’t know all the details regarding my return trip, as I at the mills met a Taiwanese girl residing in Rotterdam, who helped me get back. Lucky me 🙂

Cool!! I would love to see on the inside of one of the windmills someday!
When I went to The Netherlands I only saw them form the outside and form afar in the car!
Next time 😀
Thank you for linking up with #MondayEscapes
Didn’t go inside either. There was a small “crowd” in line, so I decided just to go for a stroll. Wish I had had a bike, so I could have seen more of the area in the short time I had.
I bike would have been a great idea!! 😀
Gorgeous – I love windmills!

Thank you! They are beautiful creatures 🙂 Enjoy your travels!
Wow! These look gorgeous. I really fancy visiting this October. Great photos 🙂
Thanks! You definitely should! A very nice day out! Also consider adding Delft to your plans – nice small town, but a bit crowded… Both day trips from Rotterdam. Have a great summer!
