Tranquil City Wall in Busy Xian

city wall xian china

The city wall of Xian is a nice and calm getaway from the hustle and bustle of the fumed streets. Here you can go for a leisurely stroll, and enjoy great views of the city. You will spot things you don’t see from the street level, and there are also marvels on top of the wall to have a look at. My only regret is that I only walked parts of it, and not the entire length. If you do decide to explore the wall in its entirety, make sure you set aside plenty of time as Xian is a big city and consequently the wall is long. It is also worth noticing that you can enter at several different places along the wall.

  1. Riding bikes along the Xian wall is one of my favorite memories from visiting that city. When I saw your photo, I recognized it immediately. So glad you enjoyed it, too. Thanks for linking up with #WkendTravelInspiration.

  2. I have always wanted to visit Xian. I have only being to Shanghai. Do not loose hope of visiting China again in the future (and with the dirt cheap packages offer from Los Angeles, I think that is very doable).

    1. I guess I would say the city itself is nothing worthwhile, besides the city wall. But the Terracotta Army was so much better than I thought it was going to be 🙂 On my China trip I did Shanghai, Hong Kong, Guilin, Xian, Wudang Mountains and Beijing. All great places, but I would say Guilin and Wudang stood out. GO 🙂

  3. I love Xi’An! I have never walked the entire wall either, but it seems like it would be a good experience if you had the time to do it.

    1. My highlights in Xian were the city wall and the Terracotta Army. The rest not so much… On my trip there I visited Shanghai, Hong Kong, Guilin, Xian, Wudang Mountains and Beijing. All great places considering what kind of places they were, but all in all I would say Guilin and Wudang stood out.

Love to hear your comment :)
