I am so glad I decided to travel by bus instead of plane in New Zealand. Riding the bus through the countryside on the North Island was nothing short of amazing! Yes, it takes a few hours, but the time flew by as I enjoyed the green hills scattered with sheep, and the “quirky” truck stops along the way.
I travelled Wellington-Rotorua-Auckland on InterCity. There are plenty of stops to get food and drinks, use the restrooms and get some nice photos. The bus from Rotorua to Auckland got pretty full after a while on the road, but the bus from Wellington to Rotorua was never more than 1/3 full. And if possible, book well in advance. I paid 1 NZD for Rotorua-Auckland…
Wow I need to hit the road now after reading your post!

I prefer to travel by train or bus/car whenever it is possible – sometimes it’s just not doable due to time.
Yes, sometimes I prefer taking a road trip – I think you get to see much more of the countryside and what a place is really about! Thanks for linking up with #MondayEscapes
If time allows, I’d rather do bus or train. Sometimes it can be draining, but mostly it’s just great 🙂
